Netflix Theater: "Butter"

Like Butta

It's common knowledge Instant Netflix is either a hit or miss in the movie department. So when there is a decent movie choice, it's essential to watch it while you have the chance. Recently I watched the film "Butter" directed by Jim Field Smith. The film explores the timeless past time of butter carving. Yes. The stuff you put on toast...... carved into miraculous pieces of art. The film follows an anal trophy wife whose husband is an acclaimed champion in the butter carving world. Along with the the housewife, there is an African American girl in the foster care system who stumbles over this hobby and turns out to be a major bad ass in it. She carved Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad...... not to shabby for a 10 year old. Although this movie sounds fucking weird, it is pretty funny. The cast is full of stars such as Jennifer Gardner, Hugh Jackman, Olivia Wilde, Ty Burrell and so on and so on. Rob Corddry is hilarious with his one liners as Destiny's (the 10 year old) foster father. The movie is definitely a feel good film. I would compare it to a less indie version of Juno. Quick, witty, and kinda crazy.
